During January and February of 1944, the 345th Bomb Group flew missions from the airfields near Dobodura, New Guinea. They also had staged some missions to Rabaul from Dobodura during October and November 1943.
Notable missions were those to the Rabaul area, the raid on Kavieng, New Ireland, and the many missions flown in support of the Allied landings at Arawe and Borgen Bay on New Ireland and between Momote airdrome and the town of Lorengau, in the Admiralty Islands.
