Robert H. Waggy was born in 1922 and was a resident of Kanawha County, West Virginia. His enlistment record on the NARA-AAD website shows that he enlisted in the Signal Corps on March 8, 1943, had a grammar school education, and was married.
Sergeant Waggy first appears in the flight records of the 500 Bomb Squadron while they were stationed at Tacloban, Leyte. He flew as an aerial gunner on twelve combat missions; striking land targets in the Philippines and on shipping sweeps along the Indochina and China coasts.
Sergeant Waggy was killed in the crash of the B-25 Bold Venture near Hong Kong on March 15, 1945.
