The 345th Bomb Group moved to the airfield at San Marcelino, Luzon in early February, 1945. While missions from their previous base at Tacloban had been limited to targets in the Philippines, from San Marcelino their coverage widened greatly to include targets along coastal China, Hainan Island, Indochina, and Formosa. Ground support missions continued to be flown on Luzon to assist the Allied invasions.
As with other maps in this series, multiple missions to the same target areas are not displayed. Instead, one instance of a target is shown in order to maintain some clarity and to allow for the labeling of locations. As always, place names are shown as they were during the 1940’s.
